April 17 (UPI) — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger not too long ago had some recommendation for Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich on how to coach Tom Brady: “Do not screw it up.”

Roethlisberger made the feedback throughout an interview Thursday on Sirius NFL Radio. The Steelers star was teammates with Leftwich for 4 seasons earlier than Leftwich retired and have become an NFL assistant coach.

Leftwich labored below Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians as an intern and quarterbacks coach with the Arizona Cardinals earlier than he was employed final low season because the Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator. He tutored Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston final season earlier than the Buccaneers opted to pursue Brady in free company.

Arians served because the Steelers’ offensive coordinator when Leftwich and Roethlisberger have been teammates.

“I used to be excited for [Brady] as a result of I knew who he was going to play for in Bruce Arians. And he is going to benefit from the heck out of that as a result of he was enjoyable to play for,” Roethlisberger stated.

“I texted Byron and stated, like, ‘Hey, do not screw it up.’ And he stated, ‘All I’ve bought to do is get out of the way in which.’ It is going to be good for him. I am excited for all of them.”

Roethlisberger is coming into his 17th season with the Steelers. The six-time Professional Bowl choice and two-time Tremendous Bowl champion missed 14 video games final season due to an elbow damage.

The Buccaneers don’t face the Steelers throughout the 2020 common season.
